The Royal Hotel Tain Stands at the head of the High Street. A landmark building built by the Maitland Family – Tain is the Oldest Royal Burgh in Scotland. While retaining its historic looks the decor has been tastefully re-furnished with 25 en-suite bedrooms equipped with TV, Radio, direct Dial Telephone and Wi-fi, Hairdryers, alarm clocks, irons with stand and hospitality tray. The Royal Hotel enjoys a well-deserved reputation for fine dining, excellent service and accommodation. The Ground floor has disabled access and ample free parking to the side. Tain has its own Golf course and Royal Dornoch is only a short drive away. Glenmorangie Distillery is just on the outskirts of Tain set in the ‘Glen of Tranquillity’. Fresh and local ingredients together with North Sea seafood are used in the dishes created in our kitchens. We cater for a quiet meal for two or parties and functions for that special day in our ballroom.

The Wig and Pen Bar welcomes you to our friendly Lounge bar, which also serves food. The Royal is a popular venue for Highland weddings. Tain some 35 miles north of Inverness in the Scottish Highlands off the A9. The Golden sands of Dornoch Firth, Dolphin watching at Nigg and Stunning Highland Scenery. Look out for the Loch Ness monster on your way. Royal shares the taste of over 300 scotches/international whiskies with its guests.
